  • Greenhouse Louvre Windows?

I have just bought a second hand greenhouse that needs a couple of windows replacing. Would it be worth the expense of fitting Louvre Windows? I read that these windows can be a great asset to a greenhouse (obviously for air circulation purposes) I just dont want to waste my money if there isnt any real point if the roof window will do a good enough job.
    Thanks.

My Dad has louvres at the bottom of his GH, and they make a big difference in air circulation. One is front right the other back left. I'd say they're worth the cost.

Wilkinsons sell one for £20.00. Not sure if that includes glass.
Some others I have looked at don't include the glass so be careful.
      Also consider an automatic opener.

I have one in my home greenhouse oposite the roof opening. Both are on auto openers and invaluable in the summer when it can still be quite cool when I go out but baking my lunchtime. Well worth buying.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

This is what Rhino says about ventilation (isn't it ironic that the empty bits in a greenhouse cost more than the glass bits?) :

"Adequate ventilation is absolutely crucial ...In designing the Rhino (except the Basic)we aimed for the ventilation to equal 1/3 of the floor area of the greenhouse. This is a very tall order and one that we believe no other greenhouse comes close to achieving.

We had to design special roof vents, two and three times the normal size in order to reach this goal.
We also increased the size of the louvre vents by 40% for the same reason.
Ventilation is expensive, so it will not surprise you that most greenhouses are sold with inadequate ventilation in order to keep the price down."

Not sure if this applys to all B&Q stores but I picked up a louvre window pack today reduced from £34 to £15. They had glass & polycarb versions all reduced.

I had a louvre fitted in the bottom of my greenhouse and find it excellent for providing ventilation on a windy day when there's a risk of top opening vents catching gusts and maybe shattering.

I've got my auto roof vent fitted and been thinking about getting a louvre next, my greenhouse is glass so does that mean I have to fit a glass one or doesn't it matter which.?

The one that I got was for glass or polycarb. The only difference was that I had to put aluminium edges along the polycarb to strengthen it. The glass just slides in the grooves.
