  • help! Dunno if this GH is worth it..

I was persuaded to move house last year in the middle of the bloomin growing season which saw me between 2 houses in April and May.....

This was a nightmare as the big shady rambling desperately neglected and slopey garden i was moving to was a replacement for one which had a greenhouse and all flower beds/veg patch received full sun all day....

I allowed myself to be persuaded to move as this house also had a greenhouse, plus a nice mature apple tree and a rasp bed.

I didnt use the GH last year as it had been left in a sorry state by the last tenant and was jammed full of junk....It has been cleared out, washed clean etc but i have started to notice it really doesnt get much sun, its shaded by the house and next door plus a mature holly tree for a good proportion of the day........it seems to get sun across half the front and half a long side for 3hrs or so in the morning, dappled light from around 2pm about half of it in full sun from 3.30pm which disappears later on at the moment around 5pm.......
I have only had a GH in full sun where the main issues were scorching/drying out etc now i know thats not going to be a problem but is this GH going to be worth it? i have Aubergines and Chillis to go in it plus Toms? The last people seemed to use it for storage

It will probably be fine, greenhouses in full sun often end up with shading being bought for them. But someone more knowledgeable will prob be along soon

        Gh

I had a GH in full sun in my previous house and planted sunflowers around the outside which sheltered the crops inside as much as possible. It seemed to work

I'd pop a max/min thermometer in there and see how hot it can get. If it's over 40C then it will be fine as you can control the temp with opening the vents/doors. I'd worry if it didn't get warm enough.
