Is this polytunnel worth buying?

Just been browsing the internet, looking for a cheap polytunnel to last me 2 or 3 years, and came across this

Garden Tunnel 1.9m x 3m

Is this worth buying, or is it to cheap ad will fall apart at a breath of wind?

Im always concerned when i see a pic of a polytunnel which has guyropes to support it.To me it would only be any good where there is no wind

I have just purchased a similar one and a bit of a breeze rendered it damaged beyond repair. At the moment its being held together with a 5" fence post, and several pieces of wood

The joints arent very strong and with a bit bit of wind has snapped them.

In fact working to the instructions, you actually can strengthen the joints, however having seen this on another, the rest of the tubing then bends

If you are completely sheltered then they are good, if not then I'm not sure t=it would last

Thanks for your thoughts, Im going to risk buying it, and will put it in a very well protected area of the garden and when building it will strengthen it best possible to avoid dmage.

Hi there. I got a great one from ebay, well in fact I bought two. I think the seller was called grownup and they cost me about £50 each but it looks like they have thicker poles than the one you are looking at. They have been up for 18mths now and have withstood gale force winds. We did alot of preparation tho. We hammered thick poles into the ground and attached the frame to them, then we dug a trench and dug in the skirt of the cover and hammered in tent pegs, put back the flap of earth and topped it off with paving slabs. We also put tomato wires all around the inside which serves two purposes, one for supporting my toms, cucs etc but also it aids rigidity. I would say the only prob is that the vents are velcrose fastening and they do not stand the test of a windy winter. I am looking into glueing mine permanently closed. Apart from that I think they are fab and would recommend them as a cost effective alternative to a proper poly tunnel. I hope that helps.

No dont do it !!! i bought a similar one, which you can see on my album pics, had to build a wooden frame inside to give it strength, bolted to raised beds inside, it still got battered to death by the weather, and finally fell down in the winter, i recycled the cover to line a couple of new raised beds and cut the frame down to fit over another so i could cover with mess to protect my cabbage and carrots. x

I would have to agree, the service from this guy is very good, I had a problem with one I bought and he is sorting. However the other one (see my other post) is similar to the one you are looking at and is very flimsey, certainly not a match for the growup one and if you have a problem the other guy was not even as close to grow up in terms of helping solve it.

Although if you buy from him, get him to email you the instructions on how to re-inforce it.
