best way to transport a used greenhouse?

Hi all, just a quick question. I have purchased a 2nd hand greenhouse, about 10 miles away from where i live. I have managed to get a friend with a luton van to help move it. But what do i need to consider when desembling/ moving/ transporting the greenhouse to my home to ensure i get it thare safely and can re-assemble it easily?

When dismantling, take notes, photographs and mark up panes etc - as such as day follows night, you'll forget what went where. Forgive me if you have a photographic mind

Apart from tools you need:
Newspapers: sheets between each pane to prevent breakage.
String to tie up parcels of glass.
Card round the glass corners.

If you don't pack the glass carefully, it will move in the van and break.. £££££


If you take off from roof, package and label glass as you go.

Apart from tools to undo bolts, take a small hacksaw with spare blades. Many bolts may be corroded.

A camera as Piskie said: photo each side and roof before dissassemby and then with glass removed.. So the skeleton framework is clear.

I would also take penetrating oil (Plus Gas is best imo), a small hammer, a Stanley knife, pliars, , and a tape measure: and measure the base before you remove anything.

Strong gloves (Homebase wet wear gloves are great) .. and a small First Aid kit - glass is sharp.

And more string to tie up the aluminium into labelled packages for roof lhs, roof rhs, back wall, door etc..

Anything to ensure you do not not-understand where bits belong....

My vans carpeted, so I just stacked the glass flat in piles with bits of cardboard in between piles. And drove very slowly....
Try and keep sides, roof etc as intact as possible, try not to fully take it apart,or just loosen rather than remove screws and push sides etc into a diamond shape if it won't fit whole.

Do not, I repeat DO NOT transport glass stacked flat, always transport glass stacked upright on it's edge. Stack the glass upright in a box if possible and then secure to the side of the car/van, you shouldn't need to put anything in between the glass.

What helped us was that my stepson labelled every pane of glass from the inside. Twas then very easy to make sure everything was in the right place when re-assembled. Use a marker pen - it will wipe off with a bit of elbow grease.

Stick it on the back of your van- then you could take it to work with you too!!!!
