Greenhouse Question

Just completed building the greenhouse my OH father found in a shed, however there is not enought of the plastic sheeting for the roof.

Would a net roof be sufficient for the summer months, to grow cucumbers and courgettes in, or would it be best to make a solid roof?

I suppose it depends on whether or not we have a really wet summer like last year. Courgettes can grow in the garden but for the cucumbers, you might want better protection.
