OOOOOOOOOh ! Posh ! I'm in Hillington on top of the hill ! If I tiptoed, I could probably see you.

I always just try and sneak in without an introduction. Now I've been spotted (and so warmly welcomed), I guess I'd better go in search of the intro threads eh?

You have my sympathy Two Sheds. I lost my first one as well, six years ago now and still digging the glass up out of the garden!

        Hi Mandy
I can only reinforce what Mrskp has said (Hi Mrskp!) - get one with bells on if you can afford it. You'll only want to add them later. Mine is a Hercules from the Greenhouse People. It is in fact an Elite Belmont with all the bells on - matching base, strengthened glass, bar capping, more vents than usual, autovents on each vent, louvres - and the extra height is fantastic. It always felt like entering a cave in my old dutch style wooden greenhouse. Now I feel like I'm entering the Centreparcs dome! I'm really, really pleased with it.

              Hi All,

Thanks for all the advise, my catolouge has just arrived so I will get started.

Good point about the bar capping and auto vents, I am away a lot and my OH would forget to open them for me!

Welcome to Mrs Kip, I was glad to hear your glass did not smash this is something I am worried about.

Can't wait to get it ordered, built and get growing in it!

Hi! mrskp. Welcome to the vine and nice to hear your practically a neighbour as well as Alice and Mandy, I'm in East Kilbride. Hope you enjoy yourself as much on here as I do.

Sorry Mandy for hi-jacking your post. Good luck with picking a greenhouse, the biggest thing I've learnt about greenhouses is you never have enough room.

Not a problem Ogilvie, I don't see it as high jacking at all. How are things coming along over there?

I can not wait to get out there properly!

it's lovely to be here and now i'm joining in, there's even more for me to read when i get in from work.

autovents are something i'm still toying with tbh. we get a lot of wind that springs from nowhere, and i'm worried that i'll go to work in the morning, only to return home to find vents having been blown away during the day.

i might try one on the leeward side (right word, wrong spelling or totally wrong word to start with? - the vent on the other side of the g/h from where the wind whips round) and see how that goes. temps got pretty high in the summer even up here !

I think the panes bounced on the bark chips Mandy, wouldn't like to try them on concrete though !

                        Hi Alice, MrsKP,

It is good to have new neighbours, there is Ogilvie and Berr too and more appearing all the time I hope.

Are any of you going to make it to the potato day in Dunblane? It would be nice to meet up.

                        Mandy

Re Potato day - I will be making a big effort to go and would love to meet everybody, but the night before I am going to a 40th birthday party for a younger friend, and I have offered the use of bedrooms in my house for "stayovers". So i don't know when the party will end, when the guests will leave, or what state I will be in. If I don't make it, we definately need to set up something else. Maybe a BBQ here when the sun shines !
