i shall definitely see what i can do ! don't get too many "local" opportunities to have a "meet" so to pass it over would just be daft !
Catch up with my daily doings at http://kaypeesplot.blogspot.com/ and http://kaypeeslottie.blogspot.com/ but wait a while cos these are well out of date ! Don't want to ditch them entirely cos I'll never remember the urls !

          Sooo Excited

I am sooo excited, my greenhouse has arrived a day early!! I am working from home today and it is so hard not to take the phone of the hook and go and start building it, even though it is raining really heavily

Sorry just had to share it with you all.

            Great news!!
I think you'll be happier with a new one anyway Mandy, as some of the older ones have designs which aren't as practical as the modern designs.
            Go on...have a long , extended lunch-break!! ( 'cos your worth it!! )

I think you should just check all the parts are there!!
                And that they fit nicely!!!
( you'd then have to dismantle it to take it outdoors!!!! )
                Bit like Xmas morning eh??

                    New greenhouse please

I'm revitalising this thread as it's got some really useful advice at the beginning about which greenhouse to get from where. I started off with Google and ended up with about twenty different windows open with different greenhouse suppliers! This will help me to narrow things down a bit.

I've not been on here for ages as we've been moving house. Seems like it's gone on forever, but finally we're in. Great big garden where I've started double digging some veg beds from the wilderness. I look up every now and again and see the tiny impact I'm having, but I'll get there eventually.

Have put far too many seed orders in, but am very excited at all the extra space compared to my last garden - that's the main reason I wanted this house if I'm honest

So, to my new greenhouse. I want toughened glass, 8x10 good, but more realistically 6x8, though I know I should go for the biggest I can... perhaps I should go and measure the space again...not to mention count my pennies...

There's such a wide range of prices for things that look pretty much the same in the little pictures online. I guess the quality of the materials and how well engineered it is suffers with the cheaper ones - do you really get what you pay for? So many to choose from, I'm paralysed with indecision! Any advice welcome!

I just walked past a house with a totally neglected back garden - brambles all over it, and nestled in the middle a beautiful wood-framed, brick-on-the-bottom-half old-fashioned greenhouse, just filled up with rubbish. What a shame and a waste.

I've been down south for months now dealing with family matters, but have heard that my beloved greenhouses both took direct hits in the Glasgow gales over the last couple of weeks.

I've heard that even the toughened glass one lost about 7 panes. Lord knows what I'll find when I return to Glasgow next weekend. :-(

I think you go for the best quality you can afford, and if there is any question of it's stability etc., you really invest in the base & anchorage - a lot of problems can be caused by having flex in the frame.

                            Greenhouse.

I got my 6X8 from Greenhouses by The Greenhouse People

Very easy site, it is set up so you can pick and choose what features you want such as toughened glass, or extra vents etc.. and it gives you a total price, then if you want to add or remove stuff it adjusts the total automatically.

                            Very good service, no problems.

I have been reading all the posts about greenhouses. I notice nobody has mentioned the size of the doors. My greenhouse has double doors and i find it invaluable if i am trying to get in with large bales of compost or other big or awkard things. I have even been able to bring the wheelbarrow in to it. It is also great in the summer when it is really hot, then i am able to open both doors for extry ventilation.

And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
