Hi All, I've been offered a 2nd hand greenhouse too! Not new in a box, but hopefully complete and useable. We have an area in our garden which is level and covered in chuckies. Would this be ok to put the GH on directly or would we be better putting slabs down on top of these under the frame bit and then having an area in the middle just on top of the chuckies for a "draining" area?

Still not sure what they are, but I'm going down the ecobase route. It works out at £6.50 per grid, delivered with the membrane, and ties/clips to hold the base down. It needs filling with pea shingle and after asking if it'd take the weight of a heavy greenhouse..

The EcoBase 50 can carry 150 tonnes per m2 , we do have a heavy duty EcoBase 80 which can carry 365 tonnes per m2 which is £8.95 per unit. Both grids will do the job. They were designed to carry fully laden HGV’s.
Dunno if that helps you or not, but if chuckies is pea gravel or similar then that's possibly one option.

Well done Bren...I was referring to small stones/gravel....and not small scary dolls....!! What do you all call them? We have the nasty pink variety (already in garden when bought house) which is why we're planning on trying to cover them with the greenhouse!

Mac we call the small stuff pea gravel then just gravel if its a bit bigger, Some others stuffs get called chippings and they are small rough stone pieces.
Have you decided how to fix your greenhouse down yet ? I think we over did it with the greenhouse my next door neighbour gave me first we laid a concrete footing then a row of breeze blocks and topped that off with tanalised lathes the greenhouse was fixed to the lot with long screws.
broadway I've not heard of "polly roll" is it just your nan that calls it that.Location....East Midlands.
