  • greenhouse purchase advice (please)

    Hi,

I have just been given the go ahead (from SWMBO) to get a greenhouse. I am going to get a lean-to, hopefuly something around the 6'x12' size.
What I would like to know is about the quality of the greenhouses that are for sale. Obviously I know that the ultimate would be a cedar framed one, but I think that I am probably going along the aliminium route. So... is it as simple as you get what pay for and the more expensive ones are more sturdy etc. or are they all much of a muchness.

Any comments, insights or recomendations would be much appreciated

    Thanks.

I wanted a lean-to, but a freestanding one gave me much more room. It's enormous, I love it! (google Rhino greenhouse)

The cheap ones are made to a price, the Rhino is built to last as long as the house. I can't never leave Mr TS now ...

Have a look on this website. I had a greenhouse from them last year and they're about the best price that I found and they are very good with their support as well.

Thanks for your advice. I had thought that as my greenhouse is going ot have to be next to a fench then I might as well build a wall (with an insulated cavity) and put the greenhouse in the southside of the wall, but I will think seriously about having a normal shape greenhouse if I can fit more plants in it, but I am not sure why .. I might have to do some drawings.
I have looked at the Rhino greenhouses in the past and am glad to hear that they are good as I rather favoured them

            Once again, thanks.

The problem with green houses is they have a reverse TARDIS effect. From the outside you look like you could grow a rain forest but as soon as you start planting you soon run out of space. Always go for the biggest green house you can possibly get in your garden and I guarantee that you will soon wish you had a bigger one.
