Here's to the Polytunnel, that has been in the hallway since last Nov! I'm kinda hoping that the wall at the back of the plot, will provide some shelter, from the winds!

That is similar to the one I have, the key to making it more sturdy is hammering stakes in to the ground in each corner and cable tying the tunnel poles to them. I have also dug a trench around the sides to bury them and put some heavy weight on top of replaced soil. Forgot to say looks good and happy growing in your new medium!

We, well my OH dug a trench a foot deep, and put the skirting down, and covered with soil and rubble. He has still to put the stakes in, which should make it firmer.
Will update with photos, when I have the plants in.
this is what i got in polytunnel so far, was last week so planted more stuff since then
Nice tunnels guys, today we put up a tunnel using reclaimed tent poles and .5ml 4x5m polythene sheet, a bit shaky but we are hoping that the wind will be kind
Eat well, live well, drink moderately and be happy (hic!)
I'm thinking of buying similar polytunnel from ebay, is everyone happy with quality etc, everyone at my allotments appear to have tunnels built from scaffolding poles/waterpiping and polythene but it seems such a lot of work and i don't have the connections to scavenge the framework

Hi Morvernrgirl, Our Poly has only been up for a few weeks, but our budget only allowed for this type of tunnel. I have to say I'm very pleased with it so far, and it's good to have the ventilation panels at the sides. We have done all we can with regards to the stability of the structure, i.e. burying the skirting, staking and tying the poles. The proof in the pudding will be when the winter comes!
I personally wouldn't leave this type of tunnel up over winter - I at least take the covers off mine and even then the covers seem to last about 2 years before degrading in the sunlight - I've double covered one of my blowaways with pollytunnel plastic held down with concrete blocks just to keep the rain (which will eventually come!) from drenching the toms cus and peppers inside.
Jiving on down to the beach to see the blue and the gray, seems to be all and it's rosy-it's a beautiful day!
