  • Getting another greenhouse!

    Hi all,

When Mrs D went to get the replacement greehouse glass from our local suppliers a few weeks ago one of the staff said that their Dad had a small one that he wanted to get rid of, so Mrs D gave him our phone number, and he just rang up, so we are getting another greenhouse! It needs a few panes of glass, but cant complain, owt fer nowt!

Its only a small one, 6' by 4', but should be ideal for seedlings, and possibly for a few toms / peppers / aubergines, and as it will just about fit in our back yard we should be able to look after it easily enough! We wont be getting it for a few weeks, as its current owner needs to move all his garden furniture out of it, but that will give us a chance to get ready for it!

I want to heat it in some way, prefferably in a 'green' manner, has anyone any ideas how to do this cheaply?

Now all I need is another one for the second plot, tho I think the cheap plastic walk in one we were going to put into the back garden can now go down there instead!

Heat from a lightbulb should heat a 6' x 4' - or light a match every now and again!

Do what that bloke on it isn't easy being green did.

Dig a hole line it with insulation then fill it with broken glass, and make a heat sink.

Not as daft as it sounds Hazel, I know someone who made a wooden frame topped it with a peice of aluinium and fitted some low energy light bulbs and stood two seed trays on the top
