    Thanks Peter,

perhaps you are right, just wondered if there were any 'growing' advantages to plastic v glass or visa versa.

      Hi SS,

Rather than cut a sheet of toughened Glass why don't you ask for two normal sheets of greenhouse glass for where vent goes then you've got a sheet of glass just in case

Hi Supersam, great to hear you're getting on so well. Your salad leaf and carrots will get on fine - mine are well away. Have you bought some fleece for covering seedlings at night ?
You could put a couple of buckets of potatoes in there in the hope of some really early ones. I planted mine in January and they're up. Keep us posted.

Congrats on the new arrival Sam, what kind of plastic is it,is it the soft sheeting type or rigid plastic/polycarbonate type? If it's the soft type watch it in the sun as it tends to dry out & rip (well it does on my mini zip up one anyway).Wish I had a walk-in greenhouse, I really envy you getting your plants off to a good start in there.

I already have the glass delivered and greenhouse frame, but that is a dam fine idea, I know where there are two sheets of Horti glass at work. In the mean time I could phone the manufacturers and thank them for sending and charging me for stuff i cannot use unless i pay to have it altered. <cynicsmiley>

              Thanks again for advice
Alice mentioned putting fleece over my babies at night but never having used it Im a bit unsure. Does it have to be a special fleece or would bubblewrap do the job?
By the way I found 2 peas sprouting in the indoor prop already, they've only been in since Monday !!

              Thanks

Hi Sam, if your greenhouse is frost free at night you shouldn't need fleece as you've only got hardy-ish plants in there (carrots/salads) & they should be O.K. Your tender ones are in a prop. aren't they so they will be warm enough. Blueberries are hardy & can be left outside anyway so that's no problem either. I wouldn't put bubble wrap directly on top of anything as it will make them sweat, if you find you need anything if it goes very icy use horticultural fleece, newspaper or old net curtains!

                  Thanks Sue

Sue, I knew there was something I could use as Fleece but couldn't think what, you said it - net curtains!
Like you said I didnt think I needed it in the G/house as it seems quite warm in there. During the last few days it has been around 40 F not sure at night as Ive not checked.
Forgot to mention it is the plastic cover type G/house with the green stuff ?? woven thru it...........and I love it
Do you know what I like so far - going in there when its raining and just messing about, its so cosy ........how old am I ?????
Brings out the child in me I think

I love to do the same when it's raining. We are all big kids. Just look at our posts (just gently making fun).

                    Happy sowing

Don't want to put a dampener on it Sam but that's the type of cover I've got on my mini zip-up greenhouse & it now needs a new one. If it's in direct sun you might notice little tiny squares of plastic in your pots after a while where the plastic heats up & drops out from the green mesh. Mine has lasted a couple of years & I've just had to stick a layer of bubble wrap plastic onto the top for the winter this year, mind you it doesn't help if the cat decides to sleep on the top as well!

Thanks for the advice Sue, its not in direct sunlight at all really but in a nice sheltered spot which gets up to a good temperature on sunny days. But thanks again for the warning i know what to look out for.
Checked the seeds in there again yesyerday and salad mix has taken but no show yet from carrots or mint but early days. Meanwhile the indoor prop is going great guns - almost all the peas are up, 3 toms, some sweet peas and a couple of pansies. Nothing from the peppers though despite giving them a good pep talk about keeping up with the others lol
I intend to do some spuds in buckets and some in the ground so I think I might start off my bucket ones pretty soon and put them in the Wendy house.
I'll keep you posted..... by the way temp in the W house is a steady 50 during the day which I think is good ??
