  • Finally, it's up! (+ a door question)

Boom! No pic though, as it was too dark to take one last night.. will take one when I'm home - have had the frame up for yonks, finally got around to glazing last night.

Wish I had of bought the glazing strips, as those W clips really do hurt when they snap shut on your fingers/thumb between the glass! Gotta tighten up all the nuts and bolts later, few bits to finish off, but happy all the same.

I've rebuilt the door about 4 times, and I just can't get the damn thing right..

it seems closer at the bottom (i.e. the door's frame touches the door frame struts) than it is at the bottom - where it's in the tracks for the wheel sliders? Is this normal? It's not smooth to open and takes two hands. It's a Halls Popular 6x10 - there's no grit in the bottom track, and nothing under the sliders so bit confused if it's supposed to be stiff or not?

It should run fairly freely I'd have thought. Sounds like the frame might be slightly off kilter, whether it's the door itself, or the whole greenhouse but that's generally the cause when things aren't sitting quite right. We couldn't get our window to shut for ages until we realised and had to tighten some bolts and slightly loosen others. In reality, it was because the base wasn't quite level, but we weren't up for dismantling the whole thing

Chris, you haven't put the door in upside down have you? Mine is a Norfolk, but the sliding door suspends from the top of the frame. Halls have a website Halls Greenhouses

The base is pretty much as level as damn - it took me ~3 weeks to get the base right as I had to level off a heavily sloped garden..

The door can't go in upside down asthe top and bottom rails are different sizes (checked a pic of the GH to make sure after the first attempt wasn't right). Come to think of it, i've not checked to see if the door side rails are bent... which may explain why it's not meeting at the top but is at the bottom?

Good luck with it. Took me ages to get mine right, but it's worth it's weight in gold now.

Think I may have spotted it.. my sliders on the bottom of the door are in the recess in the lower cil, it looks from the instructions on halls site (thanks) that it may need to be hooked around the cil rather than resting in it.....

Tonights job (argh, the amount of times i've taken the glass out and put it back in!!!)

Yup, that was the problem. it slides soooo easy now the instructions I had were torn across theimage of the slider, so that's why I overlooked it -I should have really looked online first.

My next question though is the door seals, which way do you put them on? I've swapped them a few times, seems now it's better - they're both facing away from the closing position of the door - i.e. my door opens to the right, they're both facing the right. If they face the left, the door doesn't shut as flush, but there's a better seal?

              Thanks!

Thanks to you mr marks, I finally have a greenhouse door that slides open at the touch of a finger instead of having to be pushed as if it was a ton stone uphill.
I finally [2 years after we made it] twigged that the bottom runner wasn't sitting properly, this evening I took it off and re-seated it, now, it's a dream. I've been playing ti with it all evening and I'm well chuffed.

                So thanks
