  • Is it time to wash off the shading?

The weather has been so pants, I'm tempted to wash off the shading. The days are getting shorter and I'll need all the light I can get to ripen my toms, chillies etc and keep the cucumbers cropping. Temps have been around 20C for a few weeks now.

What do you think? To wash or not to wash?

I have had some fleece threaded through with curtain wire, which worked very well for me. I took it down last week but have it on hand in case we might get another heat wave (hopefully)

My shades are off too. As I mentioned somewhere, I'm not really bothered if the foliage gets scorched now, I'm just on a mission to get everything ripened!

It's been bright sunlight all day today so am leaving mine up for a few weeks yet - usually take it down about end August / early Sept but I use that netting stuff which is easier to remove as am too lazy to scrub the paint stuff off.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
