  • Fungus gnats in the greenhouse

    I have got a bad attack this year of The fungus gnat in my greenhouse could anyone tell me if you have found an affective way of dealing with these little blighters. Any help would be gratefully received.

    They are a real problem if you water from above. The compost surface gets saturated, they lay their little eggs, which hatch and wriggle down to eat the plant's roots.

    Water from below, ie put the plant in a tray of water for 20 mins, and the problem is solved

      Didn't someone (not looking at you much, TS ) find that a saucer of almond oil left out overnight trapped the little boogers ?
      There's no point reading history if you don't use the lessons it teaches.
