  • Polytunnel spare parts

    Hello all,

A friend of mine's polytunnel's supports/hoops have broken and we need 2 new 10ft supports/hoops, I just thought I'd ask on the vine and see if any of the grapes know where I can find them online, my friend said they are expensive where he got the tunnel from, my friends retired and on a budget..

Any help would be appreciated thank you!

    Chris

First Tunnels - Shop Online For Polytunnels

I've used this firm previously and always found them very helpful.

Thanks Tam I'll pass the number on to my friend, he's not internet savvy, I had looked at the site myself but didn't see the curved part of the support so I wasn't sure..
      Thank again

If you look in the back of Grow Your Own mag, in the Classifieds section, there's usually a good few polytunnel suppliers listed. It might be worth ringing them all for prices?

Have you thought of using 1 1/4" waste pipe?, 2 lengths joined in the middle with a 3' length of 1 1/2" waste pipe well taped to keep its position on the hoop part, the ends of the hoop are put into lengths of scaffold pole driven into the ground, it works out very cheap compared to metal hoops, a friend of mine has built several tunnels this way.

Give premier polytunnels a ring, they are in the back of grow your own. I'm sure they'd be able to help you with getting some new hoops. Their hoops are straight at the sides then start to curve at about waist heightish.

Well my friend and I have had a good phone round and they don't use the same profile any more, but First Tunnels have said they will make him 2 new supports/hoops for £70 each, as £140 is out of his budget as he getting a new skin too so were going do it our self's, probably something along the lines of what ohbeary posted (thanx)

                Thanks to everyone who responded!
