A neighbour has had his Greenhouse collapse with snow load. Six inches of snow on the roof was enough to cause the collapse.
Just thought I would send out a warning.

Mine too.
Two of my greenhouses were destroyed!
Nowt I could have done about it so once the snow and ice goes I'll just rebuild it.
These things are sent to try us and lets face it, it could have been worse, it could have happened in the spring when the greenhouse was full of seedlings

Wow, sorry to hear of these collapses, so far my aluminium / horticultural glass structures have survived the 10" or so that was on them a couple of weeks ago (very little snow here now - just daytime temps of around -5C !). Think I will keep a warier eye on them from now on.

The reason the glass in the greenhouses broke was for the same reason that half the houses in the district have their house gutters missing!.
Snow starts to defrost then freezes again into solid ice. The weight of this solid ice plus the fact that glass becomes more brittle when frozen doesn't bade well for it!
Luckily this severity of weather only happens every 20 years or so!
