What happens to someone who says a greenhouse should easily take 6" of snow?<sniffle>. He gets his glass broken anyway. Only three panes broken all in the same roof section and I suspect it was caused by gunge/moss under the glass freezing and expanding. So a salutory lesson to anyone like me who didn't have a session cleaning under the glass and clearing the drainage channels.

We had 20" of snow in December and the greenhouse I built (flat roof) survived. Now I think I can stop worrying everythime it gets windy!!

nooooh way pedro. watch to make sure that no gunge or debris gets lodged beneath the glass where it will hold moisture that will freeze and possible break the glass that way. I got caught out with that after saying a greenhouse should easily take 6" of snow.

I lost 4 panes of glass in my greenhouse this year. Its the first time this has ever happened to me and I have had a greenhouse for the past 30 years.
It cost me 50euro to replace those 4 panes so it pays to take good care.
