  • How Often Do You Water In The Greenhouse In Winter?

I've been watering only when the compost in the pots is dry or every 2 weeks, whichever comes sooner.

How often do you water in the GH in winter?

I've only got some small Rosemary plants over wintering so like you I've only given them a drop if they dry out then in the borders I've got lettuce and that's not needed watering at all yet.
    Location....East Midlands.

Depends on whether you have borders or just pots. Borders here and I only water when things look dry. In this weather (down to -14) I've not got anything in there still alive! Not helped by the fact that I put the chickens in there for several days when the weather was at its worst - one girl was moulting and sulking somewhat. They have given it a Right Royal Trashing so it's just soil at the moment.

I pick up all the pots now and again: if they feel light, they get watered. I have onions, garlic & wallflowers growing and thirsty, but the overwintering things (mostly fuchsias) don't really need any watering

Very rarely, a lot of the stuff in the greenhouse is in pots and not really growing so I only really start watering / feeding in the spring. I have cabbages etc in the polytunnel border which need watering a bit more often but I have a look and make a judgement. Last time I watered them it was by putting handfulls of snow between them and letting it melt as all the water butts were frozen up.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Most potted plants stop growing in winter and need little if any water. In an un-heated greenhouse they will generally be less prone to frost damage if kept dry (and dormant).
