  • How much????

I know this may seem a stupid question, but will ask anyway.......
I am looking to buy a secondhand 8x6ft glass greenhouse.
So the question is...... How much would you pay for one???

I think I'd try and get one for free first!
People often decide they don't want theirs anymore, but it's such a faff to dismantle it. Often people will let you have theirs if you offer to dismantle it for them!!
Worth a try first don't you think??

If you were to buy a second hand one however, you'll need to look at the cost of a new one with the same spec. Max of 1/3 is a general rule of thumb for most 2nd hand stuff in reasonable nick. Don't forget you may need to replace glass ( about £3 each ) and the clear plastic works out at about £5 a piece. You're bound to need some new glass clips too.
(I have just paid £60 to replace pieces of broken glass and plastic this year)

The cost could spiral if you don't stand back and think about the repair costs.

Don't think I'm putting you off!! You'll be dead chuffed when you get one, but if it was free or a bargain, you'll not mind so much paying for the hidden extras!
    Good luck with your quest!

Tried getting a free one.... no joy.
I have my eye on one, it has all its glass intact plus a couple of spare panes.
Was just wondering how much i should pay for one.

I wouldn't pay more than £70 for a second hand 8 X 6 greenhouse! For that, I would expect, maybe some staging and a heater thrown in as well!

I paid £85 on ebay, I didn't need any new glass for it just clips, did have a free one but it worked out £250 for the glass it needed so gave that one away.

OH paid 130 for a new one from Focus for me. The base was another 70 quid but we didn't get that. That might give you a start point to work from.

Like the music machine(on avatar) could be a nice "little" earner when friends come round!

Tried Freecycle, but as soon as one comes on there it goes.
I am actually bidding on 1 on ebay.
I have just realised that its 8x14ft and not 6x8 lol
                  So.... would £70 do it???

Thanks BW - intention is for it to be a nice little earner outside the home! (hence the link to the website) Anyone fancy a party?

Sounds like a good size!! I suspect it might go for a bit more than 70 quid though. The real thing (as always with ebay) is to decide what it is worth to you and to bid and not be tempted to keep going a little higher. I always bid near the end to avoid the temptation - I put in my max bid and then switch the pc off. Good luck with it.
