  • Hi Shazza, looks good. Tip for the top, you will need to weigh it down or it more than likely will blow away on you. When I had one I weighed the base down with patio slabs and it served me well.

      • Greenhouse No 3 (Bought this one!)

Just hacked my way in through the vines. Will try to net the grapes soon to keep the birds away and plant some salads in the beds, now that its lighter in there.

Wow! That's amazing. How old is that vine? Wonder how long it will take for my new Aldi one to get like that

          • Must be 15-20 years old, but I wouldn't buy another one!! Its planted outside the greenhouse and led in through a corner cut out of one of the panes. It shades the GH too much to grow other things in there and the birds usually race me for the grapes - which are quite small. I know I should be an active pruner and thin them out but.........
            Here's another photo.

The Vine is planted to the left of the photo and the plan was to train it low, below the greenhouse, which is at a higher level. It romped away and now grows right around the GH, in at the end opposite the door, right around the back of the GH, over the shed where it is tangled up with jasmine and honeysuckle, and, until this week right over the roof of the GH too. I've never given it any fertiliser whatsoever. Heaven help me if I had!!
This week it had a short back and sides - and there's more to go soon.
What with that and the kiwi......

                • Judy, Can you use this Resize Images online. I use a PC and just copy the photos over without needing to shrink them. In fact it might be better if mine were bigger!

                            • Yup, 10x6. Which is pretty perfect for a small plot. With the flag & brick path the borders come in at 2' wide, again about perfect.

The ground it's on was the site of an old greenhouse but it hasn't been worked for the best part of 10 years. Some bits were hard to break into but once I got a digging fork in there it broke up nicely. It's looks like pretty nice growing dirt too, even better now i've taken half a bucket of broken glass out of it & dug in 6 used growbags worth of compost.
