  • A bargain greenhouse?

Spotted at one of my local garden centres (Poplars), they are selling 6ftx4ft "walk-in" greenhouses - the temporary ones with the reinforced (green mesh within the clear plastic) glazing for £49.99.

They also sell a larger one that has the kind of concertina framework (like those pop-up gazebos) and is tall enough for me to stand up in for £74.99.

    Seemed like bargains to me.

I had one of these, not bad, things grew ok, but unless its very sheltered and you dont get much wind you will end up replacing the cover after 12 months.

Trouble is, we're not allowed "permanent erections" (insert titter here) on our site, so there's little alternative if you want to grown sheltered plants (toms etc).

Dude a few plots up has one, he removes the cover for the winter, and has a small "fence" he's built round it, with webbing straps over the top to anchor it down to protect against the windy days.

Think I might get one at the weekend...

I did get a very good crop from it though, you will need to peg it down or use weight of some description.

        Or

get a bigger one of these.

I've got a walk in blow away, the one with the metal rail shelving, it came from Poundstretcher for £14.99, but the zips no good, it broke within the first week, so we're building a new greenhouse, well, my sons are going to build their Dad a new greenhouse, 10 lengths of 8ft 2X1's £20, and then packs of good cladding £8.65 per pack, then pallets make for a good strong floor, and glass can be picked up quite cheaply, I can't afford to buy a proper greenhouse, so the boys I know will make a good job of it, I'll play foreman from the recliner, and the boys can argue over who wants to play Bob the builder.
