Does anyone use an electric blanket over winter as a way of keeping a small area frost free for tender plants, obviously I would have to waterproof the blanket but does it seem pheasible?
Are electric blankets not stepped down to 12 volts through a transformer? If you had an RCD with the transformer well away from the greenhouse it could be of some use possibly.................but how I don't know?
The proper alternative is a soil warming cable set in damp sand on a propagating bench!
PS Don't try this at home folks.....I am NOT advocating an electric blanket!

I would certainly agree with all thats been said, even with an RCD, its a recipe for disaster, potentialy lethal. Please dont try it. Purpose built Electic propagators, soil warming cables or thermostatically controlled electic heaters are a far safer option and available at quite reasonable prices, but whatever you choose, do make sure your electricity supply is properly installed and fitted with a suitable circuit breaker.
