Try fitting a louvre in the end & leave this open, it won't stop it heating up but it may slow it down

This was taken at 07.30 this morning it was about 18 deg in the greenhouse and sometime between leaving work at 16.00 yesterday and this morning it made it to about 46 deg.
      Wheres the eucalyptus oil gone?

Mine was 40 degrees today, I dread to think what it will be in the summer

Why don't you try growing toms in one of the g/h borders, maybe you can keep it watered more easily?

Thanks for all your thoughts and ideas - I think I'll try one or two plants in the greenhouse again this year but concentrate on things that really like the heat. At least my chillis, aubergines and mini-cucumbers seem to love it!

Why don't you paint the glass shading on really thickly, that should reduce the strong sunlight. Also try putting some of those bamboo mats over the roof. They work for me.

Please make sure your thermometers are in the shade! I can't believe some of the temperatures that have been reported on this thread at this time of the year. In a greenhouse, if the doors and all vents are open, the temperature should not be much above the outside temperature, it's only if you restrict the airflow that the temperatures rise significantly

Thanks for the heads-up, but all my thermometers are in the shade, I promise you.

You would only have to walk near our greenhouse on a warm day to realise the problem - door and all vents open.

I may seem rather unbelievable, but it is true!

Guess what most of the greenhouse (my mother's half!) is taken up by ????

Spiky, and you can't eat them - what good is that????
