  • Greenhouse Eaves

Complete greenhouse newbie looking at purchasing a new greenhouse from the Greenhouse People whilst they have good offers on. My budget around £1,000 plus a bit extra for accessories (water butts, staging and an electric heater)

Looking at a Simplicity Clearance LE 8x12 but notice it has got low eaves at 4'.4" compared to most other models which have a height of around 5'.4".

Do this height difference really make any difference?

many older greenhouses have 2 X 2ft panes on the walls so 4ft 4" would be an improvement on that. Of course the height can be increased with wooden or metal bases. The more height you have, the higher you can grow your plants and of course more height means more head room for you.

Thank you Aberdeenplotter (AP) for your reply and messages which are appreciated.

After consultation with SWoMBO, working out the pros and cons especially from reading through the Grapevine and a little tinkering with finances took the advice of AP and went for which also has 10% off the listed price:

Hercules Blenheim Plain aluminium 8ft5 x 12ft7 - The Greenhouse People

Thankfully a very good friend of the family who is a stonemason has offered to sort out my base as a project which freed up some of my budget outside of the cost of the greenhouse so apart from material costs, from trade, it'll probably cost me no more than loads of bacon sarnies, pizzas and copious amounts of ales!!
