  • Looks Difficult.

Thought I'd familiarise myself with the instructions for the greenhouse I intend to buy, so I downloaded them and printed them out. Boy does it look complicated. Hope it makes more sense when I've got the pieces infront of me.

I will have Mrs snuffer to help me with the parts that require two people and I will wait until we have some better weather (hopefully in the first week of the easter holidays).

    Wish me luck.

Good luck. The destructions usually make sense when you take them one step at a time.

If I can follow them, then I'm sure you'll be able to

I will probably be much easy when you see the pieces!

Just don't rush it, have a few bodies available if you can. The more pairs of hands you have the easier it is.

Fortunately when mine arrived all the parts were numbered which made life a heck of a lot easier.

me and the missus worked through ours last weekend
managed to get all the framework up and ready to glaze this weekend
was not easy, especially when i kept going off at tangents and making up all the bits i recognised in the instructions as i was only using the pictures, not the written words and kept having to take stuff apart again...typical bloke
i could quite easily though take it apart and put it back up again without the instructions now so maybe it wasn't so difficult after all....just read the manual, then read it again....

I did my lean-to over a weekend, and a bit, January last year.

Read the instruction with a cup of tea. Checked all the parts, found a door and diagonal strut missing. Put the frame together on one day, with lots of stops to check the instructions as I went. Oh, and tea. Checked and double / triple check that it is square before bolding it to the concrete base and wall.
Put the glass in on the sunday.

Is this the Rhino we're talking about Snuffer? If so, be aware it is very very heavy.

Yes it will be the Rhino. Got fed up of fetching the blow aways back from next door and having to keep replaceing them so decided to invest in something a little heavier and more durable.

Rhino do offer an erection service (now then now then) but that really would be admitting defeat.

I admitted defeat. Me and Rusty couldn't even lift the panes UP, let alone into position.

If you consider the assembly cost reasonable and you can afford it without going hungry I don't think you should think of it as "defeat" at all but as sensible... If it's a skill let someone skilled do it, you're a gardener not a builder, you don't forge your own spade... If someone is skilled putting up greenhouses (or whatever) it's second nature to them, they know the parts, the sequence, the tricky bits etc whereas if someone is putting up a greenhouse for the one and only time in their life it's tricky at every stage (more tricky if chinese instructions....). Moreover if the company do it you may have a fall-back if things are not right, if you do it yourself you have to sort it yourself.

"Self-assembly" is a modern disease... I'm waiting for the time when I order a kitchen table on the Internet and receive an acorn with instructions.....

And the man who did it did a really good job. Knew exactly what he was doing.

These Rhinos sound really good - don't know anything about them, what's special about them?

Googling around came across a series of reviews which are uniformly praising of the greenhouse and uniformly critical of the assembly instructions (sorry Snuffer, see link below, best to know the problem...).

But they sound great, suitable for windswept allotment or too pricey? (website was coy about prices...).

Incidentally Snuffer, if you insist on doing it yourself, you're near enough for me to offer to lend a hand but it will be the blind leading the blind and (unlike some of the reviewers who complain it's a nightmare...) I DON'T have an engineering degree!
