Don't think an engineering degree would help with something like this, all that is needed is a good dose of practicality.

First rule don't blind in, you will end up taking apart what you have put together. Been there done that, not on green house's but plenty of other things.

Read the instructions front to back. For sure there will be something on page 5 that would have been better and easier done at a stage on page 2. Take note of the immovables like the size of the glass, you can move the glazing bars but you can't shrink/expand the glass. Take your time identify the parts and if you have room stack them in the order they will be used. Check you have the right spanners/screwdrivers etc. One of the things I found very useful was a square but it was not mentioned in the instructions.

By this time you will be starting to see how things go together just by handling them, a sort of familiarity will start to build up in your mind.

My final piece of advice would be. Before you start except that something will go wrong or you will make a mistake. Knowing this before you start will ease the frustration when it happens and lead to a smile not a grumpy face.

Old tradesmens definition of an expert. A person who when they make a mistake can correct that mistake without anyone knowing it was made in the first place.

Good luck and enjoy your green house Colin.

Snuffer, have you seen the earlier Grapevine thread from 2009 about putting together a Rhino (with photos)? It's at:

My advice would be to read, and re-read, and re-re-re-re-re-read about putting the door on the GH. It took me a while (of operational use) to figure out my GH door was on incorrectly. I posted about it here, and then someone else realised the same too! Mine isn't a Rhino though.

Mine was £3k with assembly. I wouldn't put it on a lotty, get a Norfolk for that (their instructions are even worse though)

I'd forgotten that one, well done.

Snuffer, if you need any detailed pics, just ask and I'll run in and out with my camera for you.

"Worse!" Oh great! There must be a place in the market for re-writing chinese instructions....

But £3k? lummee, I see what you mean.....
I've requested a brochure, no wonder their site was a bit shy about prices....

            Thinking out loud....
even one of the pricier tunnels works out cheaper than that but "environmental impact"? allotments very open, no chance of a tunnel "melding in" and it's a main view for several old folks' bungalows....
(well they are a few years older than me... Phew! Just!)

cloches and rickety constructions probably more acceptable... I think the old folk prefer to see me retrieving blow-aways, "Oh look" they say, "Bazza is retrieving his blowaway again... It'll be back there before dusk!"
[This is a site where sheds blow over.... Poor little turnips struggling for life, don't know about raised beds, a dug-out might be better.... ]

Back to the drawing board.... Might a wooden greenhouse meld better? Good job it's thick ice outside and I have to stay here with coffee and Internet, tough life....

That's a kind offer S, 2S.... Some of the companies offer a phone-in service (would like to hear some of those conversations, would even put GYO discussion on water butt taps in the shade!). But my vote (do I get one?) would still be to get the Rhino Boys to do it...
If not, can lend a hand....

My neighbour had 3 glass GHs and 2 sheds. All from freecycle or small ads in the newsagents

Oh Noooo. Just reading this thread now and as a starting point for me and greenhouses, I have purchased and received a Norfolk one (didn't want to go too dear on my first venture)
..then I see the comment re Norfolk instructions....I have all the bits out of the boxes and am still scratching my head a few Saturdays later
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....
