  • Tomato plant in a bucket?

    Hi folks...
Just doing a bit of research and I was wondering if 3 gallon (14ltr ) bucket is big enough to grow a single tomato plant in ?? They are so much cheaper than the 5 gallon ones!
As I am a complete novice, any guidance will be gratefully gratefully received!
    Cheers
    Stuart

Hi Stuart. I use "Morrison's" Flower buckets. I've no idea what the capacity is but so cheap or free if you can find a friendly florist who gives them away. Drill a few holes in the base and away to go!

            Tomato plant in a bucket?

I have used Morrison's flower buckets for years now - the same ones! They are ample big enough for the average tom. If you think you will need to support them, put slighty longer than needed cane in before you completely fill with whatever compost you are using. That way they are firmer. Oh yes,and I put broken pieces of (clay) pots into the bottom first. Best of luck with them.

Maybe the mods would like to merge both your threads together.
