Last summer I planted supermarket Garlic in a pot, after a few weeks it died off (summer and garlic growing don't seem to mix) but it served the purpose of keeping whitefly from setting up base in my greenhouse. I also grew Basil and that seems to ward them off too. This year I am going to try keeping a pot of marigolds to see if that can ward them off. Has anyone else tried this? I can vouch that growing garlic in the autum\winter\spring and no garden nasties go near it (apart from Cats, another story).

Never had a probem with whitefly in the green house but always grow basil there as find it doesn't do well outdoors (unlike coriander which gets on fine). Maybe that's the answer.
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

Another vote for basil (purple and green) growing in the greenhouse with the toms, aubs & cuke, also a couple of French marigolds to entice the pollinators in.
Seems to work and as has already been noted you're rewarded with vast quantities of basil - fresh pesto YES please! To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower

Pigletwillie, the only thing about the yellow sticky cards is they catch the good insects as well as the bad ones.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
