  • New tunnel - Am I doing it right?

Not sure if this is any use to anyone but I've just put up one of the cheap galv framed 6x3m tunnels from ebay on my veggie plot. Bought for £125 plus delivery of £25 to France. Bargain.
I dug out the centre path and banked up the top soil from the middle to form raised beds each side. Laid rubber matting that I was given years ago down the middle and this really works. Less bending too far and a bit more headroom. Pics attached.
I rotovated the whole patch before erecting the tunnel and was careful not to tramp the soil down when placing it. Burried the cover and staked the frame. Quite chuffed with myself.
Have lettuce, onion sets, carrots, mange tout, spring onions, a few radishes shown on one side and saving the other side for toms, cucumber, peppers, aubergines and anything else tall.
Am I doing it right & any suggestions of what else to grow & when?

Thank you. Am very new to tunnel growing. A friend told me to be careful of growing cucumbers and melons together. Cross-polination. Is this right?
Chillies are def on the list.

Early crops of spuds for next years growing, peas, etc etc. You'll be able to extend your season by a month or two Lovely looking plot, by the way. Welcome to the vine too.

I've grown two kinds of cucumber and melons together before and never had a problem.
Cucumbers one side and melons the other.
            It's only a 6x6 greenhouse at that.

The only problem with cross polination is if you want to save the seeds for mext year. Welcome to the Vine. Where are you in France?

Thanks Chris. Been quite a bit of work as started as a field a couple of months ago. Got a neighbour with a tractor to plough it and then I've turned it 4 times with a rotovator. Is there a diary of what to plant when in the tunnel and in the plot?

Great. Thought it sounded a bit odd as know of a few people that have planted both in a tunnel/greenhouse before. Many thanks
