  • Ants - Not in my pants - worse! In my tunnel!! Help

Hiya. Newbie tunnel owner here. I need some advice. Are ants in a polytunnel bad for the plants? Went in there to do my evening water tonight & there the little ******* were. Do I panic? How do I move them on?

Don't know if this is any good, but when i used to go abroad i used to use chalk dust to stop ants placed a line across the front of balcony doors and they never crossed it....im sure someone will be along to offer some constructive advice

If they are on the plants you have probably got the dreaded greenfly. I have. A quick squirt with soapy water does the trick but won't get rid of the ants not that I think they do any harm

Hiya. Definitely not green fly. Not really on plants just under the path matting and crawling around. Lots of em. Do they harm the plants or do I just fear to sit down in there lol

there probably getting ready for the greenfly invasion, waiting to farm them

I dont think they will cause you any problems otherwise, might even be helpful if you get any caterpillers
I have seen a horde of ants attacking a cabbage white, and dragging off to ther nest in the past

they like it dry and they like ot be undisturbed. SO if you keep wetting where they are, and forking the soil over or moving the matting, they'll move too. They probably won't move far though and they are sods for strawberries.
