  • greenhouse base fixing advice please

I've just been given a second hand 8x6 greenhouse with a metal base. I was thinking about laying slabs to attach metal base to but my FIL has told me he has purchased me corner pegs to attach metal base to so I don't have to lay slabs.

I'm not sure which way would be best, any advice please?

I can only speak for myself but being 6'3", I wanted extra height so fastened it to concrete blocks (it did not have the base).

My first question would be what is it glazed with glass or polycarbonate as there would be different answers to your question

Colin it's glazed with glass, mainly horticultural glass but some toughened safety glass (planning on replacing with toughened glass when/if horti glass breaks).

The area that I'm putting it in is fairly sheltered.

            Sorry missed you last post.

If its glazed with glass it will be much heavier and therefore be easier to secure. If you have the corner pegs and the site is not to exposed you could set them in large buried plant pots filled with 'postcrete'

When I say large pot I am thinking of something like a Morrisons flower bucket.

Erect the base and lay where you want it to go, Mark the four corners and remove base dig your holes where pegs will go (in concrete later). Put up your greenhouse square it up and level it,then fill your holes ( I recommend 50cmx50cm) with ready mix concrete from B+Q.
Don't forget to put in y pegs.
