  • Greenhouse aspect question

Due to other constraints in the garden, my new (and first!) greenhouse (6x8) orientation will be north to south in the southeast corner of the garden, so it will have the sun on roof of the east & south side in the morning (6 foot garden fence next to it), and then the whole of the west side in the afternoon & evening when the sun is at its hottest.

Will I be ok to have toms and cucumbers on both the east & west side of the gh or will they only do well on west side? If the latter, what will grow on the shadier east side?!

    Thanks in advance!

Cucumbers don't mind a bit of shade, and they like more humidity than tomatoes and chillies.

Going by the orientation, I don't think you will notice any great difference in the light levels. As rustylady says, cuc's like more humidity so if you can, plant them away from the greenhouse door. Cheers, Tony.

Thanks rustylady & tony - toms, cucs, chillies and peppers are my main goals, so I'll keep my fingers xed!
I'm reading the forums avidly as there is so much information to take in for a newbie GH owner/veg grower!
