Been thinking I might have to try transplanting great big lumps of onions and garlic out of the way. Just enough to sneak in the young toms. Not sure how they'll like that

I reckon I can remove alternate ones of the brassicas and fit in tomatoes. The onions can be used as spring onions. So not a total waste

Stop trying to make me feel bad
Seriously I thought my onions would be grown up and going really soon BIG MISTAKE. Is it the weather or do I need to devote this length of growing season to poly grown ones?

I was lead to believe mine would be further along than they are. I'm putting it down to the cold spring.

I thought mine would be ready mid-May-ish, they're usually edible, if small, outside in June. Mind you, mine usually keel over and die outside, so I guess I'm winning that they're still alive!

I have up to 5l pots to put the tomatoes in, but once they outgrow those, then they're going in the ground!

Just finished putting my polytunnel up today and its already red hot in there,

Maybe I should have dug out the path inside before putting the cover on...lol

Going to start moving the tomatoes and coriander in there later today,is it warm enough on a night to put some small chilli plants in there permanently?

Probably not without fleece on standby, we're forecast frost a couple of nights this week.

I holed lots of Morrison's buckets last weekend. I'm thinking I can put the tomatoes in those and then cut the bottoms off later and bury them in the beds. That way they can stand quite close together for a bit longer in the space I do have.I like the idea of feeding in the top and watering in the bottom anyway. Last year I used the really big tins they get in the school kitchen and it worked well. this also reduces any chance of soil splash (blight). Does mean the plants get to the top of the tunnel that much sooner, though.
