Tomatoes - how big before they go into the PT beds?

This is my first year with a PT and up until now I've always grown my toms in pots in a GH. Can anyone advise how large my toms should be before I plant them straight into the beds rather than my usual potting on?

Well, the smaller they are, the easier they'll be able to plant I planted mine when they were around 6" - 8" high.

Perfect Chris, that's roughly what they are now. They've been on strike the last week or so as it's been so cold and dark here

It's my first year growing them in the ground, undercover too - I was normally pots in the GH. This year it's 1 border in the GH, and the rest in pots/randomly plonked outside

Mine were planted out some time ago, and they're about 3' high now, crazy growth! (I prepared the ground well before planting).

Are you using string or canes to support them?
