  • Have I picked the worst year ever....

....To start attempting to grow things in a greenhouse?

My tomato flowers are dropping off by the dozen...my baby cucumbers are rotting on the stems...and my peppers seem fairly disinterested in everything!

I keep the door open for ventilation where possible, but this just means it's cold in the greenhouse!

I know I am a bit of a novice, but, occasionally in the past I have chucked a tomato plant or two in grow bags in a tiny blowaway and pretty well ignored them ...and still got quite a few fruit!

I have a reasonable amount of green toms...but the chances of them ripening look increasingly slim (unlike my good self!) ...is it gonna be a case of Green Tomato Chutney, this year ?

PLEASE tell me I am not alone...and it's not ALL my fault!!!

I think this might be my greenhouse ( very amateur) and other trivia blog page!!! Do feel free to drop in !

You're not alone and its not ALL your fault!
    Do you feel better now??
You have had a courgette - that's one more than I have. All my tomatoes are still green, my first squash has just started to grow - its about the size of my thumbnail
As for green stuff and beans - forget it!
It can only be better next year (if we all pray from now 'til then...........)

All those times when you chucked in a plant and it grew, that was before you realised you could grow things, so they grew to spite you. Now that you want to grow things, they are actively conspiring against you......

So hoping we don't have your summer over here this year!
Our last summer was pretty ordinary, but not quite as bad as yours.

I have had 2 small ripe tomatoes off my money makers (6 plants). I put one (the size of a cherry tomato) in a curry last night just to feel a little better! :P

I have given up on my courgette plant, just useless no sign of anything.

yes I think you have, bit depressing to be honest, trying to fight off the rot in my greenhouse

even some of my chillis look like they have got infected with mould now, my basil keeled over and died yesterday

I have my windows/doors open all daylight hours for ventilation to no avail, I tried leaving it open at night those last couple of nice days we had only for the greenhouse to be invaded with slugs/snails

                    just cant win this year

tempting fate a bit I know, but surely it cant be as bad next year

think my greenhouse is going to need a serious fumigation/clean at the end of the season
any suggestions of what to use to make sure I get rid of the mould spores?
