Last winter my wife and myself carried a fully-built GH with base but without glass over half a mile from a old chaps house to our full plot (at that time now half plot) without any problems. the glass went by car to trips.

word of warning if moving glass by car. Make sure that the glass is on a flat surface. I laid mine on a rubber boot liner with a raised edge. Broke 14 sheets. I was able to cut down the broken sheets and had to buy only a few new ones but it involved a lot of work which could have been avoided.
