Best way to clean greenhouse?

I'm sure this is a daft newbie question, but what is the best way to clean the glass - inside and out - on my greenhouse?

I acquired the greenhouse on my allotment from the previous owner who had used some white wash.

Do I simply wash it with household detergent, or should I use something more specialist?

Hot soapy water, and a brush.

No chemicals, no gadgets necessary.


Use a bit of vinegar if you like, it kills germs and makes the glass shine.

If its the white coating that you paint on the windows to keep it cool, it should rub off with a dry cloth. Then wash off the glass. I'm sure someone will recommend something special - I use washing up liquid!

Hot water with a little washing up liquid added, and a dustpan brush. Rinse off with clean water if required.

Did my poly glazing yesterday, wiped clean and then washed with 50/50 warm water and bleach. This will kill and algae.

I use diluted bleach vinegar and about 6 microfiber cloths...

I had soo much botrytis last year that I'm using the cleaning fluid beginning with J....

I usually use Citrox which is much more pleasant

Thanks for all the replies so far. What to use seems to be far simpler than I expected, the challenge now is getting hot water on the plot... looks like it could be a job for the camping stove :-)

hot water, koffsplutter Cold works fine. use rubber gloves if you are a softie

never got round to cleaning mine last year ...so I've just emptied it , smoke bombed it and have have scrubbed it out with a weak J.....solution . If it hadn't been left for so long I'd have used vinegar and water

I'min the middle of doing this job as well. Using hot soapy water, washing it off with a mild bleach solution and then washing all the pots. At least yesterday and today was dry and sunny so it was a great opertunity to get it done.

I use an extendable Squeegee for mine. Saves loads of time and as long as you're careful when swinging it to go from sponge to squeegee, its fine.
