  • Greenhouse glass in Bristol?

    Hi all

Finally managed to get myself a proper little glass greenhouse! However, 2 of the glass panes were broken before it came to me, and three more suffered during the move. Does anyone know anywhere around Bristol (ideally West Bristol or even West of Bristol) where I can get replacement glass sheets (or even perspex I suppose) cut to size at a decent price? (I'm looking on Freecycle etc. but nothing suitable yet...)

    Thanks.

Then, it's *just* a matter of laying and levelling a concrete and slab bed for it, painting the base with some sort of anti corrosion paint, screwing it down and putting the damn thing back together again!

Any glazing supplier should be able to sell you some.

Thanks, I know, but I was looking for recommendations on quality and price...

Greenhouse glass is second quality anyway. I go to my nearest supplier - I don't imagine that the cost per pane of glass varies that much.

Have a goooogle for local glass suppliers.
You'll be looking at paying about £3 for a 2' x2' pane of glass ( not bought any for a while)..at least you can then spot a 2nd hand bargain via elsewhere
Always good to know of a supplier in case of a sudden need ( also good to have a few spare ones in hand too because if you have broken panes due to high winds- so will lots of other peeps- and you'll find the suppliers in your area will have sold out the next day!! )

That's a good price! Seems to be £5 / £6 plus round here!

With a bit of luck though, I've managed to get some second hand ones for free.

            Thanks all

One of my customers bought two panes last year. It cost her £7 per pane. If she had asked me in advance, I could have given her a couple of panes for nowt . If I see any on freecycle/freegle, I ask for them. One can never have enough spare glass

I paid about £5 last time I bought some. Better ask Nicos where she shops

Probably not worth a trip to France just to save a couple of quid per sheet of glass!

Oh- no!!...that was bought in the UK!

Glass here is about 4-5x the price it is in the UK

Just got another quote from a local glass place - £10 per sheet (for standard glass, 2 foot by 2 foot)! With 5 broken panes that would almost equal the cost of the greenhouse! Lucky I managed to get what I needed off Freecycle
