Polytunnel up against a wall?

I was thinking about putting a polytunnel in the garden next to a brick garage and attaching the tunnel to the garage somehow to stop it blowing away..

Would the polytunnel be ok if a brick wall blocks one side of the longest part of the polytunnel or will it be pointless as it will put plenty of shade on the tunnel

If it is the north side then it should be Ok. But paint the wall white to reflect the light back

I like the idea of painting the wall white.

So long as the wall isn't blocking the light I'd imagine you'll be fine. If it's in the direction the sun comes from I'd reconsider.

If it's THAT windy, won't the polytunnel rip ?

If it's strong enough it shouldn't rip, I'm in a very very exposed area and min survived gale force winds this year.

Its not over windy its just that next to the garage is the best spot for it and I thought it would be more secure if I attached it to the garage wall for when the winds do get bad now and then...Hopefully the tunnel wont get the wind due to the wall next to it....

Walls create a lot of turbulence.

What would be better is a wind filter, if you can arrange it. Something that's about 50% permeable, like a trellis fence, or a hedge, or trees.

I was hoping to lose the shed and stick the polytunnel next to the garage wall but if you look at the floor in the pic you can see the shade on the gravel 2 mins ago.
I was also going to remove the small green bush.

You need to work out how many hours of sunlight the area gets over the course of the day before you can make a decision really.

my polytunnel, and now my greenhouse are against a north fence, mine grows stuff very well as it gets sun til bout 3pm in summer, so as long as you suss it hours of light wise like Sarz suggested, you should be fine

I would get some treated 2 x 2 and some twin wall polycarb sheets and build a lean too.
