"Staff at the pinery commemorated the success of the crop by recreating a 1675 painting by Hendrick Danckerts, which showed King Charles II being given the first pineapple to be grown on English soil."
I didn't even know till this morning from such highly educational childrens TV that pineapples grow on the ground. I assumed they grew in trees like most other fruit - was thinking Palm type tree!
Bob is so educational!
Wasn't actually thinking of using a hotbox for pineapples, just to get started earlier... Was thinking of building it in October, filling it in January and enjoying some summer veg in spring with a smug smile ;-)
