  • old style fan

i dont know if this is the right section but we have an old (15/16yrs) greenhouse circular fan that is inserted into a side panel of glass, about 6ins across with an outer protective cowl and a plastic fan which goes either way ,depending on the temp of the g/house whether it spins air out or in, it has a cord to let you close the vent as req.,we had 2 but after that long storage i was only able to make one good one. its simple, effective and i want to get hold of another, does anyone know any firms/shops still selling them,or their proper name?,as i have tried to uncover one on the net but all they offer is solar powered fans or the auto(wax) vents or big industrial greenhouse powered units, come on you web geniuses, make an old man happy(is it only old men ? or is it women as well that have trouble with the wind?)

If you have the original data instruction sheets, some replacement info may be in the printed materials. There also is a chance the company is still in business and you could try to contact them for a replacement.

the fan is totally plastic except for the screws holding the parts together,no power/batteries,just powered by the breeze outside or hot air escaping from the greenhouse, totally seethru..

yes,i found it on amazon but with the stormguard it now costs 4 times what i paid for it,thats inflation i suppose,i might try to ressurect the broken one with some clear araldite, see if i can get it to a reasonable condition, with the peaches and figs now developing i want to keep it aired, then again, its raining again, and cold, with rain and colder weather forecast from tomorrow,so it looks like yesterdays sun(one day) was our summer,2009 was our last summer that lasted longer than the 2nd weeek of may,if it runs true to form,it will now go dark til march...thanks for spotting the fan,i had looked on the net ,e bay,and had just about give up,the wax vents pack up after 12 months,so are a waste of money....thanks again...

well i got the broken one araldited and it now looks like it will be strong enough to at least last out this season(note,i did not say summer, not tempting fate ) so i have put it up onto the greenhouse side and its working okay...so far..
