  • Greenhouse/Polytunnel Humidity

I have a weather station from Lidl or Aldi with sender units in both the greenhouse and polytunnel. It shows a humidity reading for both sitting around 68-72% . What is the optimum figure for growing undercover - does anyone know?
    Thanks in advance.

No idea, I have always understood that the atmosphere shoud be 'bouyant' Not too hot, not too cold, not too wet and not too dry. In fact good growing conditions.

Not a lot of help, sorry.

Last night fell to 6° and by morning had reached 32° - buoyant it is not. Hmmmm

Ventilation is very important when growing under cover.

Ventilate and damp down. Have you got any means of shading?

I have auto vents on the greenhouse and the door gets unlocked every morning. Polytunnel has enviromesh sides with roll up/roll down flaps and meshed doors. I am currently rolling up flaps and opening the door in a morning. I damp down daily in hot weather.
It was more a question about the optimum humidity. Geeky I know.

Both done each day on hot days. I was interested in optimum humidity figure.
              I guess there isn't one.

                  Much thanks again x

                    Good question and answers.

I know very little about this except that different plants like different humidity. Cumbers for instance like it far more humid than toms.

Just be careful you don't make it too humid. You could encourage blight spores to germinate, or moulds to start. Should be ok with a healthy airflow.
