My GH floor is all paving slabs and I grow in containers. When it gets very hot I can flood the floor and this helps to put moisture in the air. In the winter I can clean it all out and hose it down. Sometimes I sit in it with a book when there's not a lot of plants in.
I like growing like this as its never muddy on wet days and I don't have to replace the border soil when eventually it is spent of nutrients.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Thanks Bramble. My other GHs are on solid floors but I've never had the room to just sit in them and have a coffee or read. So I;m going to make some Me-room and not feel guilty about it
Having seen all the kiwi roots spreading through the site, its quite a relief to know they're going to buried under concrete or slabs. I'm going to have nightmares about that thing

Hah the kiwi rises again ... Have you thought of grow bags ... even if made out of ordinary compost bags or something ... it might be possible to 'hang' some of them too so they make use of the floor space but grow upright if you know what I mean. I'm thinking of using haylage nets next year to maximise growing space and for ease as I can just remove and let the later plants that will be growing underneath do their thing.
Sounds like a lovely chill out zone for you to sit and coffee and meditate ... can I join? (pref. just as those strapping strong men get there ... )Last edited by Polytastic; 30-07-2013, 08:51 PM.
