Small greenhouse

Apologies if this has been asked before but I have searched and can't find anything.

I ordered some seeds from Marshalls and when they came there was a leaflet advertising the Access mini greenhouses. I have a 4ft x 2ft cold frame which has seen better days and as their value mini growhouse is the same size I would be able to fit it in. My problem is, I have no idea how well it would stand up to the wind. You can get an anchoring kit but it only works on hard surfaces and mine would have to go on soil. Does anyone have any experience of this? Would I be better getting the half growhouse which is still a lot taller than the average cold frame?

They seem expensive for what you get, sorry not seen that make in person so cannot comment on build quality

My problem is, I have no idea how well it would stand up to the wind.

My blow away is buried, tied to the fence and during the winter has had my tree planter weighting it down and I'm still amazed it didn't blow away! My project for my other half next winter is to make me a new one- it's so handy living with a joiner!

Thanks for the replies.

I've had the usual cheap blowaways with plastic covers and yes, they blow down at the slightest gust of wind, particularly if the door is open. This one is made of glass though, not plastic, and is therefore heavier. I just don't know if the weight is enough to compensate for the fact that it is more than twice as high as it is deep.

No idea sorry, if you do go for it the best of luck with it and please report back on build quality etc, I've only seem the real cheap versions of your link and the were worrying, I am interested though to hear if you do get

If you do get one run a bead of clear silicone sealant round every pane to stop them bowing out. i would have tought a good stake drive into each corner and fixed to the frame would keep it safe.

Thanks Bill, that sounds good advice. I'm still undecided but will let you know how I get on if I do decide to buy one.

I decided on the half growhouse rather than the taller one as I'm on my own and I couldn't see how I was going to put the bigger one together and move it into place. I was quite glad only to be doing the smaller one, which took me 5 hours to put together today. Its not difficult, just fiddly and a bit awkward at times, but the result looks sturdy and strong. As usual I have a worrying pile of unused pieces left over. I'm not good at DIY.
