There is nothing recommendable,or reliable, that is any good for the soil, best we can do is,keep it under control, and put it in a barrel of water,to use at a later date, either hoe or pull it up,a lot of people say not to compost, but dry or drown, then you can,i have put it in my compost, and been fine, the trick is,if it sits on the top it will dry out before you put anything else on the top, even a lid, seen a good idea, put a mesh frame over part of your compost heap, just as a drying area, the air will get all around ,Last edited by lottie dolly; 28-05-2014, 06:18 PM.sigpicAnother nutter ,wife, mother, nan and nanan, love my growing places, seed collection and sharing, also one of these

Nothing you can do to get rid of it so no use beating yersen up about it .......I just hoe it off or pull out when weeding and it either gets drowned, dried or burnt . Roots go down that deep there's pretty flowers on the other end in Aussieland and along with cockroaches it's probably the only thing to survive a nuclear explosion ........S*d the housework I have a lottie to dig

Luckily for me its not one of the weeds i have to contend with on my plot, but is rampant on some other plots.
From what I can see,and have read, it is so deep rooted it doesn't rob too many nutrients from the topsoil. Most plotholders have no choice but to live with it, pulling it out or hoeing off the topgrowth. My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

At least whilst he's digging he can be thinking about how it has managed to survive 200 million years...and how it could be medically useful in the future!.....
