Replacing glass with plastic?

Hello.
I've just purchased a greenhouse from ebay and its 99% of the way there. I just need to have a full side pane (square, can't quite remember the dimensions but maybe 2ftx2ft) and the 4 triangular roof sides.
I tried using a glass cutter on a spare piece of glass and I failed miserably. I'm wondering if it might be a bit easier to replace the broken/missing sections with plastic/polycarbonate pieces. That way I can cut it easier and I'm guessing the cost may be lower.
Just wondering what people's experiences have been and any recommendation for high street options to purchase it from.

Hi Luke & welcome to the vine.......If you can't get hold of any glass from anyone who already has a greenhouse I can see 2 options. You can either as you say buy some polycarb and just cut it to size with scissors or a stanley knife, the other option being taking the measurements to a glazier & let them cut it for you.

I have bought greenhouse glass Inexpensively from a glass supplier in the local town. If you've got one, I would get them to cut it, although you'd have to supply them with a template or accurate measurements. Mine broke when one of the cats tried climbing the potting shed glass!

Hello Luke and welcome. Like Wendy, I buy replacement glass from a local glazier. if you ask for horticultural glass it is cheaper as it may have slight flaws that make it unsuitable for normal domestic windows.

Thanks for the speedy replies.
I've managed to source the correct size pane locally and that's £2.50 which I can't complain at.
Think I'll have a gander for a local glazier and get a quote on 4 triangular sections.
