I have Big Drippas and found that the flow was a little difficult to get just right.

What I did was to get a roll of PTFE tape, undo the tap (take it apart into 2 bits), wrap some around the threads and put the tap back on, this will give you some resistance when turning the taps and will let you make minor adjustments.

Watering spikes - work for me

I have found that those watering spike devices work very well on my house plants and tomato plants I am growing this year!

I got the ones from www.ecocharlie.co.uk and they are a bit DIY (have to play with them to get the setting right) but once its set correctly they worked perfectly well.

I would recommend them if you are not having a great time with the big drippa system, they are cheaper too.

      hope this helps you out

I've just bought one and waiting for a water butt before setting up. Water pressure and setting up each dripper depending on distance apart and distance from tank as well as water pressure will influence any water fed system. I've never used these before and after hearing a tale from a work friend of mine about a burst pipe in his house and the renewal of the whole downstairs wooden floors, I always turn off water and gas when going away for any length of time so these drippers sound ok. I would concur that the dripper furthest way needs to be set up first, then the others adjusted and would recommend PTFE tape on the threads if these leak. Also, small cable ties on the pipe to connectors for a tight fit.

I'll pop back and let you know my experience once I have this kit set up with any advice on problems...

After having no luck with drippers for the last few years this year I am taking a different approach, I have put a large waterbutt high up on bricks, connected a water timer to it, then run the pipe from the timer into the g/h and attatch all the old tubing from the drippers to the pipe, then they sit in 2ltr plastic bottles in the ground, and every so often the timer lets water through for x amount of time.

            Ok, I've set them up.

210 ltr water butt feeding them. Leaks at hose connections into drippers so used small cable ties which cured it. Leaks at threads so use PTFE tape, which cured it. set up dripping, which is fiddly but working great. Waterbutt size will ensure a few weeks watering before level creates enough of a drop in pressure to be noticeable.

I also like the bottle spike drippers as well. Drilled a hole in the upturned base of the bottles so that they can be filled from hosepipe once they are set up for drip rate.

Yes, an even better idea, so you can control the bottle drip rate, which is the same throughout better than the tubed drippas...nice one. Which timer do you use?
