some blokes on my allotment swear by taking cover off poly for winter. allowing weather and frost in soil.the beds are left empty till spring. any thoughts on this . cheers.

I couldn't take the cover off my tunnel without totally ruining it so although the rain would be nice it would be totally impractical. Would then have to buy new plastic sheet every spring and persuade my OH to spend a day re-sheeting. Added to the fact is not have the advantage of winter protection. Totally impractical idea.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

a lot of them are show leek men . the beds are empty now. they take lathes off base and pull plastic over and leave it in a heap ann replace in spring.must admit seems a chew on.Comment
