Replacement roof vent

Hi there

I have a very old aluminium greenhouse. The roof vent was badly damaged in a recent storm. I have tried all of the suppliers for a replacement but none of them have one which will fit the roof ridge of my house. Has anyone out there managed to replace/make a vent in similar circumstances? Thanks in advance.

I have two types on my g/houses - one is attached to the roof line (slides onto the side of it) the second sits independently as effectively a raised sealed unit where the glass would normally be.

Can you find the make of the greenhouse Terry?
The name is often printed somewhere on the frame- usually near or on the door?

You'll probably need to wipe it all down as it may be well hidden under a layer of crud if it's anything like my old greenhouse.

Worth having a careful look as you may then be able to order an exact replacement.

As I am totally confused by what you are requesting, may I suggest you take the damaged part/s to a garden centre who may be able to advise.

Hi Guys - Thanks for all your assistance. It is the aluminium framed section which opens that is damaged. The top edge of the frame, the hinge that slides into the ridge and which has a curly profile is damaged beyond repair. I have tried to post a picture of this profile without success. I will have a look at and see if I can see a manufacturer's name.

The name is often near the base either on the door or low down on the main frame.

There's a company here sells roof vents but whether the c shaped profile on the ridge & the window is the same size, I don't know as they can differ.

Hi Guys

Can't find any name etched in framing. The base is pretty mucky therefore it is difficult to be sure there is not one there.
Getting back to my original point. Has anyone tried making an hinged opening window frame from scratch? Would a louvred window fit in the roof and be safe?

All the roof vents I have come across run along a C shaped profile along the ridge but they come in different diameters. If you are handy then there is no harm in trying to put something together.

Terry, I'm not the worlds best drawer but if you can make sense of this, you could remove the window, bolt a couple of hinges to the ridge, put the window in position & mark where the hinge is to bolt to the window frame then attach it to the hinges.
